A short course in Transformation.
Over the past two Saturdays I have been running Altered Books workshops at the Lady Denman Museum in Huskisson, NSW. I was invited by the group organising wildaboutwords, part of the See Change Festival which runs from 16th May until 9th June.

Over the two days, 17 of us folded, glued, cut, drilled, ripped, painted, stamped and stitched old and discarded books with the intention of transforming them into ‘art’. Many of these I collected from op shops at the lowly price of 10 cents each and others were rescued from their throw-out bins.
The beauty of playing with discarded books is the freedom they allow to experiment. The chosen book itself often suggests a theme by it’s nature, contents or title. Here just a few of the results! More to come.
Some of our ‘transformed’ books will be on display at the Huskisson Community Centre during wildaboutwords events as part of the See Change Festival. Some of them are already on display at bookbookonowen in the main street of Huskisson.

It’s so exciting to see the transformations. Inspiring!
