Chapbook with lunes

This week I received a copy of SURFACED in the post.
SURFACED is a chapbook produced by Kitchen Table Poets Chere Le Page and Colleen Duncan in conjunction with the ongoing Shoalhaven Stories project developed by the multi talented artist Anna Glynn.

This is the cover of the chapbook SURFACED featuring spontaneous poems, stories and lunes.

The chapbook features a collection of lunes (these are short poems of three lines – the first line has three words; second line, five words and third line, three words). Here is my lune from the book:

white cockatoos raid
the garden, peck each lemon,
laugh and leave.

Shoalhaven Stories is based on local stories, events and myths of the south east coast of NSW where we live.
A group of poetry lovers gathered at the workshop in Nowra last September to share stories and write poems about the Shoalhaven area. All the poetry published in the chapbook was written spontaneously at the workshop, under the expert guidance and inspiration of Chere and Colleen.

Other poems include the highly imaginative My Hairdressing Walk by Anna Glynn; the autobiographical Middle Ridge by Dorothy Swoope; Serenity by Daphne Morgan; Princes Highway, Milton by another Kitchen Table poet, Irene Wilkie;  Narrawallee Beach by Michelle Shea; The Ferryman by Ann Bennett and Church Street by myself.
The Shoalhaven City Arts Centre in Nowra has a storytelling booth where residents and visitors can record stories or poems orally. You can read a copy of SURFACED along with other Shoalhaven stories and images at the Centre – phone 02 4429 3111.
