Coptic binding with waxed thread

Adele's waxed threadAt the Journal making workshop at The Studio West End I learned how to sew a coptic binding – some thing I have always wanted to know. The binding is strong and allows the book to open flat – great for journals or visual diaries. I already have some orders. Adele uses waxed thread – much easier and more effective than waxing the thread yourself.

The books are so beautiful Marama, loved all of them. Specially loved the one with the wavy curves on the front. Can’t wait to see more.

There is a limited supply of colours at MacLace in Queensland but the best supplier is Royalwood Ltd in Ohio – a delicious selection of waxed linen thread in an assortment of colours and weights.
